District_75 2010 - Campaign Press Release

Because of my full-time availability, I have been able to dedicate my time to ensure that the needs of District 75, the City of Newport, the residents of Aquidneck Island, and the citizens of Rhode Island have been properly represented.

I have served on six House committees on several issues, worked closely with the RI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force [introduced a bill to combat trading of child pornography], the Office of the Attorney General [introduced a bill regarding 'sexting'], the RI Department of Transportation [worked on preservation of the local railroad depot], the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority [introduced a bill to eliminate toll evaders], the Department of Environmental Management [worked on fisheries issues] , the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless [advocated for categorization of crimes against the homeless as 'hate crimes'], the Small Business Association of New England [submitted and saw passage of bills on making it easier to do business in RI], the Fort Adams Trust [provided liaison and support], and the local fishing community [provided ongoing support].

I have also been appointed as the Rhode Island legislative commissioner on the 17 state Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

Working with the Capitol Television crew, I was instrumental in the production of three 30 minute shows about Newport issues including: Commercial Fishing Issues, the Fort Adams Trust, and the homeless situation in Newport.

During the past two years, I have become a strong, independent, and effective voice for District 75 in the House of Representatives. I have also maintained my perfect attendance record. Details of my accomplishments can be found in the 'District 75' section of my website: www.stacyhouse.com.

I ask the voters of District 75 to return me to office for another two years by voting for me on November 2nd.

Representative Peter Martin
