Welcome to my StacyHouse website. This site is now over 13 years old. I have used it to keep my friends and family informed about my activities. As you will see, the site has many diverse sections. Each section covers a different aspect of my life after 'retirement'! Among other things those aspects include photography, website development, railroading, community planning, and serving in an elective office. |

House of Representatives - District 75 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
On November 4, 2008, I was elected to the District 75 seat of the Rhode Island House of Representative. It was resounding victory! We knocked out the incumbent with a 55% to 45% victory. In November of 2010, after two years of service to the citizens of District 75, I was reelected by a margin of 62.5% of the vote! This year I am running unopposed. I will return in January for two more years. The past four legislative sessions have been most successful for me! As the result of my work, the State Police have an easier process for identifying those trading in child pornography, an Irishman was pardoned 166 years after he was unjustly hanged, and those who honorably served our country are now able to get a "Veterans" designation on their drivers licenses. I have also served from July 2010 until 2013 as the Rhode Island Legislative Commissioner on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. Information about my other accomplishments, and some unexpected public recognition that I received, during the past three years has been provided in the District 75 section of this website. | Exoneration of John Gordon
In November of 2010, a constituent asked me to submit a resolution to the Rhode Island House of Representatives which would ask the Governor to grant a pardon to John Gordon, an Irish immigrant who was hanged in 1845 for a murder which many knowledgeable people believe that he did not commit. In January 2011, I submitted such a resolution to the House Judiciary Committee. In addition, I learned more about this case by attending a stage play, "The Murder Trial of John Gordon", which ran at the Park Theatre in Cranston, RI during January and February of 2011. I am delighted to announce that the Resolution was passed out of the House Judiciary Committee by a 13 to 0 vote. On May 11th, the resolution was passed unanimously on a floor vote of the House of Representatives [75 to 0]. It was passed by the Senate Committee on Special Legislation and then passed by the Senate In June, Governor Chafee granted the pardon to John Gordon. There was a 'John Gordon Memorial Weekend' in October of 2011, consisting of a celebration on the 8th at the St. Mary's Cemetery and on the 9th at the Rhode Island Irish Famine Memorial. "Bellevue Avenue"
Following the successful pardon of John Gordon, Ken Dooley wrote a script for a movie which will be called "Bellevue Avenue." I have developed the website and have been working to support that effort. For more information,

The 2003 display of my photography at the Ocean Coffee Roasters has led to a new venture. I am now producing a line of note cards that I call 'PhotoNotes' for an article which was published on January 2, 2008.
These cards feature my photos of popular Newport scenes and matching envelopes. The first few have to do with the OCNRR Railroad, Trinity Church, the Gulls at Cardines Field, the Commissioning of the USS Chafee [DDG 90], and the local fishing fleet. Many of my better railroad photos can be seen on
New England Railroad Photo Archives. I have also built a 20 page brochure and a PowerPoint presentation for trade shows. For about 6 years until I ran for office, I served as a qualified engineer and brakeman for the tourist runs. |
