Central Nervous System Brain
Diencephalon - lies below the cerebrum and includes:
Thalamus – the ‘central switchboard’ for the CNS
Hypothalamus - intellectual function
Epithalamus - controls pineal gland
Hypophysis (pituitary gland) – situated in the sella turcica of the ethmoid bone and is connected to the hypothalamus by the hypophyseal stalk.
