Sympathetic

If almost any portion of the sympathetic nervous system is stimulated, the whole system responds (the fight or flight response).

During periods of excessive sympathetic stimulation:

• Skeletal muscle vessels dilate

• The heart pumps faster

• The liver releases extra glucose

• The thyroid is stimulated

• Sweating increases
