Spinal Cord Injury Common Cord Syndromes
Complete Lesion – total loss of motor sensory, and reflex activity.
Anterior Cord Syndrome – Loss of motor function with preservation of position, vibration, and touch senses.
Brown-Sequard Syndrome – Loss of pain, temperature, and light touch on opposite side. Loss of motor function and vibration, position, and deep touch sensation on same side as the cord damage.
Central Cord Syndrome – Loss of motor function and incomplete loss of motor function.
Conus Medullaris and Cauda Equina Syndromes – Loss of motor and/or sensory function in various patterns, with potential for recovery of function with regeneration of peripheral nerves; neurogenic bowel and bladder.
