Expectations
The client is expected to maintain a patent airway and not experience respiratory complications, such as pneumonia, atelectasis, and aspiration.
Interventions
Turn the client every 2 hours.
Instruct the client to breathe as deeply as possible.
Assist cough.
Use incentive spirometer.
Possible use of suction.
